Under 8′s Guiseley Blues vs Burley (Home) Match Report

A very, very, very  late post here as I had completely forgotten to write something!!!  (Any volunteers for match reporters very welcome.)

Despite the delay in writing this report I still have a good recollection of who the team played on this very cold and foggy morning.

We were down to just six players on the day as Jozef couldn’t make it.  The rest of the boys, however, rallied and covered his position well and progressed into the game with the same levels of assured football we have become used to since the season began.

This week we had Joe covering the GK position, and wore the Captains armband, and despite a couple of lapses in concentration early on produced a really assured display and made himself really big when he came up against the Burley attack thwarting the majority of attacks.  Joe deserves a special mention as he was hesitant to take the GK job on at first, however each game he is developing into a very capable shot stopper and contributes well to the teams success.

Harry and Louis in defence worked well, as usual, and made some good attacking runs.  The most pleasing thing for me is the development in communication between some of the team as they are aware of each other jobs and the positions they should be on the pitch.  Harry and Louis do this very well.

In midfield we had Eddie and Billy.  Eddie continued his recent determined streak in trying to dribble the ball around the whole opposition before trying to put the ball into the top corner of the goal.  As yet he has not completely achieved this and I understand he is now considering making an effort to use his team mates more effectively in future games, finger crossed!!!

Billy was excellent.  Good purposeful runs reaped rewards for Billy in the goals he scored.  A natural two footed player with a brilliant attitude and desire really shone through making him the stand out player between both teams.

Lastly our lead player in the forward position was Ewan.  One of Ewan’s best games this year consistantly making good runs into dangerous positions comes naturally to Ewan and after several near misses he eventually got his reward with a goal.

Well done to all the boys.

No game Sunday 2nd December.  Next game will be against Calverley Away if the weather stays ok for us, I will let you all know in due course.
