A cold morning today, but soon brightened up.
Guiseley started well but went a goal behind after being caught on the break.
Luke M levelled up the score on 16 minutes with a nice finish. Guiseley were a little off the pace at times and were caught again, 2-1 down at half time, but I think they were the better team, having more shots and most of the play. Bill and Mark had a good chat at half time, mainly about attitude and willingness to go out there and perform. We knew what this team could do if they work together.
So, second half gets underway and the boys were superb, wanting the ball, causing all kinds of trouble for the opposition, and on 42 minutes Ethan brought us level again, then on 49 minutes Alex, who was having a really good game scored to put Guiseley 3-2 up.
Ethan wasn’t finished though and on 58 minutes he sealed the win with his second of the match.
Wrenthorpe kept going but I think it’s fair to say that today, Guiseley were the better team. Wrenthorpe were very respectful on and off the pitch, full credit to Lee, his coaches and his players.
A little about our team today:
Luke S: solid in goal, great command of his defence, great distribution of the ball.
Robert: solid at the back, great strength, good organisation.
Alex: superb today, great vision, excellent work rate
Matthew: solid and reliable as usual, same every week.
Jake: calm at the back, knew where to put the ball, and when
Declan: good work rate, defense and offense, chasing back, excellent
Ethan: second half attitude was EXCELLENT, work rate, fighting for the ball. deserved a hat trick.
Jamie: machine like in workrate as usual, never seen you tired! great link up play.
Finlay: what a difference, listened to everything that was said, all taken on board, thank you.
Stephen: brilliant, how did you not score today! but great UNSELFISH play, working in three’s and four’s. fantastic
Luke M: another fantastic attitude change, work rate went up, helped the team .
Sam J: attack, attack, attack, tackling, fighting for the ball, wonderful to see Sam, thanks.
A great team performance today, worked really well together, try to keep that spirit up.
Many thanks to Jonny for refereeing the match, Carl for running the line, and all parents who helped set up and take down all equipment.
Last but not least, thanks to Bill, who is superb at getting the boys ready to go, and is in tune with what needs to be done. Cheers Bill.
