The boys had successful and enjoyable day as Guard of Honour for the first team and half time entertainment they provided showcasing their skills to a packed crowd on the famous Nethermoor turf. The boys were a credit to Guiseley Juniors and there parents as they played and behaved impeccably.
The following day it was there turn to play and try and earn 3 more points in the league. Without the injured Max we started brightly and were on the front front straight away, pushing our visitors back and creating chances. Callum and Oliver Bolton were marauding down both wings and it was Callum who opened the scoring neatly finishing from good forward play from Bolan. Dylan soon doubled the lead as he dribbled out of defence, kept going and lashed home, Dan made it 3 firing home from a corner, Bolan scored in similar fancy shortly after with good perseverance.
Callum was having his best game for some time, skipping past defenders, linking the forward play and putting in good corners. Joel fresh as a sub quickly grabbed two goals, one following a lovely team move involving a great one two with Tom. Joels day was about to get better , but not before a stunning strike from Oliver Meskill had made it 7-0. Two more lovely cool finishes from Joel, one where he showed great composure running through on goal, opened his body and placed in the bottom corner. The boys were playing some great flowing football which led to another strike from Joel , he was getting in some great positions today, but still had to finish. he now had 5 and half time came at 10-0
The second half we rang the changes with Matthew having a chance to play up front, Dylan went in goal allowing the some what redundant Luke a rare run out of goal. We continued to dominate and create chances, to Calverleys credit they never gave in and kept making the tackles and the keeper despite having concceded a few was having a good game. Callum showed his new found confidence again with a sweeply timed shot on the half volley for his second. he biggest roar of the day came when Luke finally put one of his many chances away, think he was playing the goalkeepers union game with his previous attempts.
Right on the final whistle, Joel broke free beat the defence and his best finish of the lot placed the ball home for his double hat trick. Surprisingly no real celebration, must be shy now after last weeks attempt ! The game ended 13-0, all the boys played some great football despite the cold wet conditions. Well done boys, all you have showed us this season is a credit to each and everyone of you.
