Team Yellows backed up last week’s home game with Leeds Macabbi with another home fixture against Calverley.
Asked to play second on a rather wet surface, I half expected a bit of a battle against quite a strong team.
Calverley arrived in confident mood and, after overhearing a rousing pre-match ‘up and at ’em’, I gave our boys the news that they were expecting to beat us.
This seemed to ignite something in the boys – who were excellent from start to finish – probably the most complete performance of the season.
Niall, Charlie and Lennon were in unstoppable mood, driving forward with regularity and scoring some really excellent goals. Daniel played a good twenty minutes and was involved in some sturdy defending. Niall bagged a double hat-trick, Lennon bagged his second hat-trick of the season with Charlie and Harvey completing the scoring. Charlie could easily have had at least four himself, shooting marginally wide on several occasions.
Oliver was strong, as usual, at the back and once again thumped a post with a lovely strike. Harvey continued to show that, when he puts his mind to it, he has the ability to receive the ball from the keeper and find nice passes (with good technique) through midfield – he just needs to take confidence from this and do it more regularly.
Today was the day that Max took his game to the next level. He produced a performance well above his norm and worked with energy and good foot skills. Again, Max, you need to take confidence from this and realise you can do it on a regular basis.
Joe was goalkeeper again and kept our first clean sheet of the season. He does things in goals that no other player in our team can do. Brave performance.
All in all, a very satisfying if overly comfortable performance.
Man Of the Match – Max B
Really hit a season high today. Awesome Max!

Player of the Week – Max B
Excellent training performance. Listened and didn’t mess around during practise (take note boys), perhaps this lead to a M.O.M. performance…..?!
