U7s Whites v Keighley Shamrocks

U7s Whites v Keighley Shamrocks

So the end of  what turned out to be a very successful first season for not only Guiseley whites but all of Guiseley JFC U7, arrives. No more standing in sub zero conditions, knee deep in mud, drinking luke warm coffee, and cleaning the mud of the back of your car seats (until September).

Guiseley played for the first time this season against Keighley Shamrocks, so little was known about the team, other than there pitch was a vast improvement on last weeks quagmire (soft and muddy Leon).

Guiseley started the game at a good pace. With strong running and several well taken shots by Jack and Pat, great challenges and determined hard work from both Archie and Liam freeing up space for other players in the team, married up with some good passing from all the team. Suitably topped off with a well taken goal by ever present Geno, put Guiseley into a narrow but well deserved lead at the end of the first quarter.

There were no goals scored to report in the second quarter by either team, partly due to fine saves and some great defending by Keighley and 3 good stops from our own peter Cech Thomas. Although, no goals were scored the team was still continued to play as a team, notably from a excellent all round performance from Patrick, with great work rate from Sam, Liam, Gene and Max who was always tracking back at great speed to make several important tackles and minimise the number off Keighley chances.

The third quarter meant a change of goalies Patrick into goals and Thomas out with a very entertaining a good half behind them. The passing slightly improved as did the movement of the players off the ball, passing between Archie, Thomas, Liam and jack was a delight with Thomas picking out players for fun. It was only a matter of time before the goals began to go in one from Jack and a further one from a great cross from jack for Thomas to finish as he’s knows best. Thomas added a third goal to round off this very successful quarter. (I think Ted had found his way back to the pitch to watch this quarter but can’t be sure?)

The fourth quarter resulted in a lot of changes with all the team getting an opportunity to play, I will highlight the more salient points (important Leon) Again, a good display of support work and generally playing as a team with every player contributing, topped off by the best goal of the day, from Sam a powerful drive into the top corner from well back –  whoosh!! There was also a good battling goal through two players by jack, which sealed one of the best all round team performances this season with everyone playing there part. Well done lads you should all be very proud you all deserve a medal for playing your part in winning team,  bring on next season.

Man of the Match

As most weeks there were several contenders for man of the match, it was given this week to Patrick for an almost faultless display in the first half of passing, tackling and general reading of the game well done Patrick.

A special mention Wayne and Martin for dedicating a lot of time to training the boys and most of all making it enjoyable and to all the parents for supporting the kids all this season well done, we are all very proud of all the team.

Well done Guiseley Whites you all deserve a medal for playing your part in winning team,  bring on next season.

Tip of the day don’t cut your own hair and then forget to bring your hat.

Trainer of the week – Thomas
