U12’s Guiseley Girls Blues Cup Run Continues – Castleford 1 – 3 Guiseley

Guiseley came into this Cup Game knowing Castleford are no walk overs. Guiseley started on the attack and within the opening minute Katie saw her effort pushed wide by the Castleford keeper. Several shots later Guiseley found themselves with a free kick within Sian’s range. Sian blasted the ball and Olivia found herself in a great position to tap in from close range. Katie nearly made it two minutes later but Castleford came back strong and on 15 minutes they found an equaliser. Cas looked strong and moments later they hit the post. Guiseley looked nervous but Sian made a cracking run and hit a long range effort but the Cas keeper somehow managed to push the ball onto the crossbar and out for a corner. The corner resulted in a Goal Mouth scramble which saw every Guiseley girl in the box have an effort but the Castleford defence stood strong and somehow managed to avoid Guiseley going further ahead. Shona was playing well and saw her long range effort go just wide. On 24 minutes Guiseley had a corner, Del stepped up and found herself on the score sheet after her corner went passed the Cas defence and found its way into the back of the net. Half time came and the second half consisted of more of the same. Lauren and Katie linked well and both had efforts saved. Castleford still had their moments though but on 48 Minutes Olivia found Guiseley’s 3rd. A well worked goal. In the closing minutes Sian defended well and her all round performance gave her girl of the Game – final score 1-3 to Guiseley
