U12 Guiseley Yellow 2 – 2 Tingley Atheltic

U12 Guiseley Yellow 2 – 2 Tingley Atheltic

A visit from top of the league Tingley was always going to be a tough game, but Guiseley Yellow showed just how good they are today.

Guiseley started a little slow and Tingley took the lead with, to be fair, a great goal. We asked the team to be a little bit tougher, making those challenges and winning the first and second ball.

Guiseley started to come back into the game and won a free kick. Declan stepped up and scored a lovely goal up over the players and into the bottom corner to bring the match level at 1-1.

The game swung back and forward in terms of possession and chances but Tingley got themselves infront with only about 7 minutes left with another well taken goal to make it 2-1.

The way we have been playing recently I don’t believe we deserved to lose this game, and neither did the team. They kept on making the challenges and fighting for the ball, playing some lovely football in the process, and with only a few minutes left, Finlay got on the end on the ball and lobbed the keeper, a really well taken goal.

Tingley put pressure on Guiseley but couldn’t make it count and right at the end, Guiseley could have nicked it, but I feel a draw was the right result and so the game ended at 2-2.

I feel that this team is improving all the time, along with individuals who are really starting to show what they can do.

It is always a team effort, and today Guiseley had to be at their best because Tingley were very, very good, all the players put in a real shift today. Coming from behind twice against top of the league is a great testament to the way you lads can play football.

Stephen: such hard work-rate, up and down the pitch and being very generous with the ball. Jamie: always a great engine and work-rate. Declan: plays where ever he is asked and today was superb. Matthew: first to the ball, great courage as always. Luke S: played a captains role today, great kicks and coming out for the ball, terriffic. Everyone had their moment today, where they played an important part in the team.

If I can be very picky I would say we need to start getting our heads on that first ball, something that not everyone is comfortable with and we need to address. Overall though, a great result today against a very good side.

A mention for our referee today, Jonny does a great job for us, always gets the players in at the start, tells them that he can’t see everything, sets his stall out as to what he will put up with and won’t put up with, always is in full control of the players and Managers and Coaches and I personally think he is a great referee. I think anyone who thinks they can do a better job, please try it, it is not easy. Thanks Jonny.

Many thanks to Carl for running the line and Bill for getting the boys up and wanting this game.

I appreciate that some parents don’t want any involvement in the whole set up of Guiseley Juniors but sometimes it would nice if parents step forward and run the line, just for the throw ins.

Well done today boys,

Team: Luke S (c), Eathan, Declan, Matthew, Jake, Tom, Fred, Alex, Jamie, Stephen, Sam J, Finlay, Josh

Goals: Declan, Finlay

Man of the Match: Matthew, great work-rate, attacking the ball and a real tough cookie!

Well done today boys, all 13 of you contributed to a fine performance.
Luke – I think you positional sense is excellent and you always make the striker have to do something special to beat you.
Jake Best performance of the season so far – great to see you getting forward
Declan – superb today, all over the pitch, leading attacks and making vital tackles at the back, great goal as well!
Mathew – Well deserved MOM today – A leader on the pitch, brave fearless takes responsibility and never shirks a challenge..
Ethan Thank you for putting in a great shift at the back, I know its not your favourite position but this season you’ve been in goal,up front in midfield – and you didn’t let us down today.
Tom – Great today wehter attacking or defending, your all round game is really improving
Fred Terrific today, in the trenches battling to win the ball, distribution is improving every match, and you showed some great footwork going past players.
Alex -You have two great feet and an ability to make the game look easy. I asked you to get more involved in the physical battle and you did that today.
Jamie Tackling passing going past players and working back to defend – good link up play with our attackers as well, just work on delivering a killer final ball.
Sam J – First half was tough for you, I felt Tingley marked you well and you struggled a bit to link the play up,but your 2nd half was much better, and your improvement this season has terrific
Steven – Workrate skill fighting for everything, getting back getting forward, passing and willingness to always be involved. you might not have scored today but that is one of the best 60 minutes I have seen from you against a top team. Thank you

Finlay – Great goal, but more importantly you came on for Sam and gave everything, you ran the channels well and almost won the game for us in the last minute A super sub!
Josh – I asked you to come on in the middle of the park and tighten up the play, you won your tackles and broke up their play emerging with the ball and distributing it well. I was really impressed today Josh – well done.

On behalf of all the players and parents just a quick thank you to Mark, all week he has been telling me he would love to get something out of the game and he was convinced we could- I am so glad the team managed to deliver for him and give him 100% today.
