Sutton away3/2/13

We finally got back to football after a lengthy break.  Our last game being some 3 weeks ago against Scholemoor. A game we comfortably won 5-0 with Bolan again bagging 2, Dan and Tom joined in before a stunning strike from Oliver Bolton.

Next up was Sutton away. We started well on a cold windy morning trying to play our nice on the eye football. Bolan went close with header from Toms cross and further efforts from Oliver Bolton and Callum, but still no goals. good work from Luke and Max at the back kept Sutton out, but then following another good save from Luke, Sutton reacted quicker and scored from the rebound, a definate lack of tackling a this stage. Dylan had a strike from distance over the bar, then in the space of 2 minutes the game turned.   Bolan ran clear and finished with power and accuracy to equalize followed now by the customary ‘ Guiseley Style’ dance.  Next up the moment of the game.  Little Oliver Bolton was up to his tricks and was crudely brought down just inside the Sutton half.  Joel looked longingly at his coach!  Listened to the orders and fired into the top corner.  What a strike !!  A limp forward roll celebration followed, it deserved more. it was stunning !

Oliver Meskill was creating all kinds of trouble and getting closer with his shooting. Only good saves kept the score at 2-1. The third goal was not long coming. 3 or 4 good passing and moving led to Bolan firing home.  Oliver Meskill got his rewards with a 4th before half time.  Sutton were still in this game and kept pressing our defence as the second half was to prove.  A blistering start from us, a cheeky back heel from Bolan found Oliver Meskill who blasted home.  Within seconds sloppy defending from us allowed Sutton back in and even when Dylan on a rare foray forward scored to make it 6-2 we never looked totally in control.

Sutton played to the conditions and their strengths using the wind and their strong attacks to put us on the back foot for long periods.  Some how we were hanging on, with Luke having a great game with the captains arm band on. The pressure did finally pay off, but we helped them alot with more poor defending and weak tackling when we needed to be stronger left Luke exposed.  2 goals pulled back. We regrouped and had to rely on the break to relieve some pressure.  This we did and created a few chances ourselves which their keeper did well to keep out. Final score 6-4 to Guiseley, definately not our best, but we are proving we can dig in when needed and another win keeps us unbeaten.  Well played to Sutton you really battered us and can count themselves unlucky today.
