The game against Panel Ash was up and down. Guiseley seemed to take a long time to get into the game. The icy, hard conditions on the pitch made it very difficult for both teams and it showed in the game. However determination paid off for Guiseley after a great cross by Sam Baxter provided the perfect ball for Harry Naylor to do what he does best and headed it into Panel’s goal putting Guiseley into the lead. 1-0
Panel were not deterred by this and soon brought the game back to a tie 1-1. Panel continued to put pressure on Guiseley and reaped the reward gaining another goal and going into the lead 1-2. Oliver Hulme was denied a goal after hitting the crossbar.
Panel were given a penalty and made a great attempt on the Guiseley goal but was denied by a superb save by keeper, Alex Hawszak. Guiseley had a good few chances but it just wasn’t going in but god was smiling down on Guiseley because after a very near miss one after another by Sam Baxter gave Iestyn Hayes the opportunity to nip in and snaak in a great goal to bring it back to 2-2.
The conditions made it difficult for the players but this did not stop Panel sealing yet another goal bringing the game to 3-2. We thought it was all over but we were wrong as Panel make a late challenge giving Guiseley a penalty which was taken by Tom Smith perfectly placed bringing the final score to 3-3.
It was icy, hard surfaces, cold and dreary but that did not stop Guiseley making a good effort and coming away with a very respectable draw.
