We travelled to play Bradford PA on Sunday and the following was the squad for the game:-
After an early morning frost the pitch was in great condition by kick off time.
The early exchanges saw us mainly on the attack without really creating any clear cut chances. Our first chance fell to Jack, who after receiivng a cross from Nathan turned and shot but the shot was comfortably saved by the keeper. Our defensive trio of Nathan, Max and Freddie looked strong and the majority of the action was in the opposition half. Joseph had a good run and shot that went just wide and then Felix had a shot that hit the side netting.
We took the lead after a period of pressure from Bradford PA. From a slick passing move down the right involving Jacob, Felix and Nathan, the ball was crossed into the area before being put behind for a corner. From Jack’s corner the ball ended up in the back of the net following a slight deflection off a defender 1-0.
Marcus then made a smart save to deny the opposition striker an equaliser and Max then made an important block as we came under some pressure. Minutes later we extended our lead. From a tackle by Max, he found Evan. Evan played a nice ball to Joseph who went on a run. Joseph beat two defenders before finding Nathan to the right of the area. Nathan’s cross shot ended up nestling into the corner of the net. 2-0
Minutes before half time we scored again. Jacob broke up the play and found Geno. Geno beat a defender before finding Felix. Felix played a great ball across into the area and Jack had a tap in at the far post 3-0.
Joseph spent the last couple of minutes of the half on the touchline after getting quite a bang on the ankle.
For the first 8 minutes of the second half the match was very even. Then we had a good clear chance from a good passing move. This resulted in Geno having a shot that was deflected behind for a corner. We then had 3 corners in quick succession with from the final one, Freddie shot just over. We then scored a fourth. Jack was fouled just outside the area and from Jack’s free kick the ball found Joseph who shot home. 4-0
Our final goal was an excellent team move. It started with a great tackle by Max who played a one two with Jacob. Max then found Joseph who in turn found Nathan. From Nathan’s ball into the area Jack turned and hit a crisp shot into the net. 5-0
Freddie, Geno and Nathan all went close in the final minutes before the ref blew for full time.
Another fantastic team performance by all of the boys with some excellent passing moves.
MOM: Max for a solid defensive display throughout
