Match reports v’s Sutton and Calverley

Conditions were testing with a high wind and a sloping pitch but we started well with Joel having a shot well saved. 2 quick corners followed , but as usual we could not convert and then they break up the pitch but a good save from Luke keeps us level.

Oliver and Tom create a good break down the left but breaks down and we stand around and watch their keeper pick it up instead of hitting the rebound.

We are creating lots of chances and the ball breaks to Tom but his shot is blocked and then another good strike from Dylan on 8 minutes flies wide.

True to form we have missed our chances and then allow Sutton to score on 9 minutes with sloppy defending.

Mathew really gets stuck in in midfield and ball breaks to Oliver who sees another shot again go wide.

Dan comes on for Oliver on 10 minutes and has an instant impact when puts Bolan through 1 on 1 with keeper but unusual bad finishing leaves them 1-0 up.

Sutton seem stronger in the tackle and getting the breaks , we stop for a free kick that isn’t given on Dylan they have a long range shot which Luke did well to save but ball breaks and we are 2-0 down.

We continue to play good football and Bolan has another 1 on 1 but again our finishing is letting us down, another free kick which Joel hits the bar with. Finally Tom finds the net but straight away, slightly wind assisted we find ourselves 3-1 down.

A string of good tackles from Max keeps them out and at the other end we play head tennis before it falls to their keeper.

At last a bit of luck in front of goal as theball breaks to Bolan who drills it into corner of the net.

Half time 3-2 to Sutton With a full squad for 1st time Craig gets confused with who is on for start of second half – not used to having this many players

Frantic start to 2nd half as Luke makes a number of saves and then Oliver tries to beat 1 to many defenders with his bag of tricks .

We are battling well against a strong team and standing up well to some strong tackling where last year we were getting bullied of the ball.

Corner on 5 minutes and Dan is nearly in end followed by run and cross from Callum who gets a free kick but again the shot is saved.

Bolan is sent through again but the keeper saves and Luke has to make a great diving save on 10mins.

We are well in control of the game now and attacking from all angles, creating chances on both sides with Oliver and Matthew going close after good approach play.

Bolan doing his Andy Cole impression today, shoots past right post again– good pressure Guiseley.

String of clearance from Max – he is getting more solid at the back this season – could turn into a real no nonsense defender! With a bit of class thrown in.

Turning into one way traffic and finally a great finish by Bolan makes it 3-3 and almost straight after he hasa brilliant header narrowly over the bar. Sutton wake up again and make us defend

stronger , good tackling at back from Max against a robust opponent. A sloppy moment in defence nearly lets our hosts in but Dylan is back to clear.

Bolan nearly in again forcing the keeper to make a double save and the rfesulting corner should have produced a goal as the ball flashes across the goal and is cleared.

Callum is back on for a limping Matthew. A low shot from Dan who battles well with their big no 7 to gain midfield supremacy

Bolan goes on a maisey run which gives us another corner. One way traffic now, surely the winner is close, but then a break away and Luke saves the day again, last minute approaches as Bolan

scores from a tight angle after good skill – well deserved. A frantic last few moments as we create again and keep the ball high up the pitch. Not our best footballing performance, but the boys proved they can tough it out as well as play great football.

Hard fought game but a deserved win. Bolan’s hat trick the difference !

After the weeks bad weather we are forced to reverse our match against Calverley, and play away again.  With a full squad again we arrived full of confidence after two wins from our opening 2 games.  From the off we take control of the game and quickly create chances, but again looks like we could be in for a frustrating morning in front of goal as opportunities go begging with weak finishing and good goal keeping.

None the less we continue to play our free flowing football all over the pitch and quick goals from Bolan and Dan set the tone.  Its not all our own way, as Matthew, Max and Dylan and called to defend well on a number of occassions to give Luke a quiet first half.  All 4 of our back players start new onslaughts and a couple more goals before half time takes us in 4-0 up and playing well.

The second half follows the same vain, Callum and Oliver M on the left and Oliver B and Tom on the right are playing like wing wizards and creating loads of chances, this time we are putting more away than we are missing.  Dan completes his hat trick with another great finish, Tom smashes one home into the top corner, a volley from Oliver Meskill and a quick fire second for him, Oliver B runs half length of the pitch and picks his spot. Bolan grabs his second and a great team goal ends with Joels clinic finish right on full time for his second.  Calverley did score a deserved consolation goal for their efforts and without a string of great saves from their keeper the score could of been more.Final score 11-1.  Best overall performance we have put together for some time. Well done boys !
