Match Report v Keighley Shamrocks

We played host to Keighley Shamrocks Crusaders on Sunday.

The following was the squad for the game:-

Marcus

Nathan

Evan

Luke

Freddie

Joseph

Jacob

Jack

Felix

Keighley kicked off and went straight onto the attack but first Nathan and then Evan made important clearances. From our first attack there was some nice passing between Felix, Jack and Joseph with the latter shooting wide.

We took the lead after another good interchange of passing. This time Joseph found the overlapping Nathan whose cross was controlled by Jack who then hit a crisp shot into the net 1-0.

Back came Keighley and this time Freddie made an important tackle to deny a shot on goal. Again Keighley went on the attack and after some neat play the attacker shot just wide.

From our next attack Felix’s shot was deflected behind. From the resultant corner the ball broke to Luke whose shot was saved by the keeper. As we approached the interval we scored our second. Joseph made a great run and played a good ball inside to Luke. Luke was brought down. From Jack’s free kick the ball broke to Freddie who smashed the ball in.  2-0

As we approached the half time whistle, Keighley nearly scored but the attacker’s shot cannoned back off the post and Jacob cleared the ball to safety.

Half Time 2-0

We kicked off the second half and went on the attack with Jack and Nathan shooting wide. Next Keighley went on the attack but Marcus pushed the attacker’s shot round the post. However minutes later Keighley scored. From a high cross ball into the area the ball broke loose and the attacker shot home 2-1.

We then had a nervy 5 minutes before turning up the heat. Jacob won the ball in midfield and slid a great ball through the defence for Joseph who shot home. 3-1

Minutes later from another swift and slick attack Nathan found Luke whose cross into the box was met by Jack. The keeper made an excellent block but Jack was on hand to follow up his own shot to score his 21st goal of the season. 4-1

Then from the move of the game we nearly scored again. Nathan made great strides down the right before firing in a great cross but before the ball reached Jacob, Jack launched himself at the ball and fired just over.

However we didn;’t have to wait long before we scored again. Evan , Felix and Jacob were all involved before Jack crossed the ball in. Luke attacked the ball andfired home. 5-1.

As we entered the last five minutes the hard working Jacob got onto the scoresheet, firing home after Freddie’s shot had been partially blocked  6-1.

Nathan completed the scoring  with a well placed shot after another good passing move down the right. 7-1

The Keighley keeper made a couple of great saves and Marcus was called upon and made at least 3 important saves as Keighley threatened a couple of goals.

The ref blew for time and again it was another great team performance with all 9 boys playing well.

F/T 7-1

MOM as chosen by the opposition is Luke
