Horsforth Stallions v Guiseley Yellows Kick Off 10:00am

After a couple of weeks break we travelled to Bedquilts Adel to play Horsforth Stallions, on a cold crisp and bright day. Horsforth are a team we had not faced for a couple of seasons, but after recent results we started the game in a confident mood.

The Guiseley starting eight were Luke in goal, Max and Matthew in defence, Oliver M, Dan, Tom and Oliver B in midfield leaving the returning Bolan upfront.

Horsforth kicked-off and both teams appeared nervous in the opening few exchanges. The first notable effort on goal came after a good Guiseley attack which Tom prodded just wide. The match was well balanced with both teams creating good attacking moves; Matthew made a solid start and kept pushing forward creating some decent chances, he played in Bolan who had a great effort saved by an in-form Horsforth Keeper.

Guiseley were having some good possession but lacked a cutting edge, some midfield passing was not finding a target and Horsforth were soaking up the pressure very well. They presented us with some problems at times and had a good effort saved by Luke. Matthew and Max were seeing a lot of the ball but were dealing with the Horsforth attackers very well.

Guiseley pressed again in search of the first goal, with good skills by Oliver M and Bolan had a good few shots saved. A great move by Tom saw Oliver M shoot just wide. Guiseley need a goal to settle our nerves and it finally came from a lovely cross by Oliver B which the Goalie spilt and Oliver M pounced on the loose ball to score 1-0 GUISELEY. A deserved lead

Soon after the re-start both teams had some good chances and Luke read a Horsforth move to deny them a good chance but the resulting clearance fell to Horsforth who pushed forward to equalise 1-1.

Heads did not go down, we carried on with some good work by Matthew who kept on pushing forward and after evading a couple of tackles found Oliver M with a great pass, Oliver was fouled; free kick Guiseley. Dan produced a great shot from the free kick which he buried in the corner, great goal 2-1 GUISELEY. The Referee blew for half time with the score at 2-1 GUISELEY.

Guiseley kicked off the second half and were immediately on the attack with Callum having a goal bound effort well saved by the Horsforth Keeper. Matthew pushed forward again playing in Oliver B who sweetly struck his shot into the corner to make it 3-1 GUISELEY.

Horsforth were threatening but Max produced a great block to prevent a shot on our goal. End to end stuff again saw Matthew and Bolan linking up well to slot Callum in who shot just wide. Again Horsforth pressed again asking questions of our defenders, they produced a great shot but luckily Luke was well positioned and saved well. The clearance found Oliver B who’s good skills then led to a great cross into the box which Bolan stuck away like a pro on the volley 4-1 GUISELEY.

Horsforth were not beaten; their number 7 produced some ‘Messi’ like skills beating two of our defenders and slotting past Luke with ease; great goal 4-2 Guiseley. The match was opening up again and both teams were producing some excellent moves. Soon after Dan grabbed a 5th and was now on for his hat-rick. 5-2 GUISELEY

Horsforth were still in this match they were patient in their play and seized their opportunities. Luke rushed out to intercept their latest attack but unfortunately slipped and their attacker side stepped past him and scored their 3rd goal; 5-3 Guiseley. There were more goals in this match and Oliver B set up Bolan again with an identical cross and an excellent volleyed finish –2 for Bolan , 6-3 GUISELEY.

With only a few minutes to go; both teams kept seeking more goals. From another free-kick just inside the Horsforth half Dan produced another lovely strike to complete the scoring and his HAT-TRICK. Well done Dan and well done Guiseley for a hard fought win against a very good determined Horsforth Stallions team.

Final score; Horsforth Stallion 3; GUISELEY 7
