Match Report v Eldwick 7/4/13

After a couple of weeks off due to bad weather we were back in action on a fine spring like morning at Crom Park.  The pitch was looking great , big thanks to our tireless groundsman for a superb effort.

With Callum and Oliver Meskill absent and Dylan starting on the bench we kicked off, won the ball straight away, our first attack saw Joel burst clear and calmly place a side foot shot in the far corner, less than a minute gone. From the re-start Joel won the ball, turned provider with a great pass to Bolan and another clinical finish. Eldwick were caught napping again and still in shock with the blistering start we had made.  Bolan again the architect with some great football, passed to Oliver Bolton who finished in style.  3-0 in 3 minutes !

Guiseley were well in control and playing some excellant football on a great pitch. From Olivers corner, Joel narrowly missed with a great reverse header. Our Midfield was superb so far and Dan and Joel creating loads of chances for the strikers and wingers. Eldwick to there credit did try and get back into the game and created a few half chances, but Luke was alert to these. The game became more competitive as the half went on with both sides creating chances. Dylan replaced Max and after some more excellant passing Tom came close with a shot on the volley.

Our visitors were soaking up a lot of pressure and surely more goals were in the offing? Bolan fired over from a free kick after his mazy run was upended. From the resulting goal kick Joel collected the ball, found Oliver in space on his wing, he raced clear into a one-on-one and fired passed the on rushing keeper. Guiseley attacked again and again, one cleared attempt went to Bolan who shot from the edge of the area to make it 5-0 at half time.

We kicked off the second half with Oliver rested and Tom back on. Little Oliver ‘Messi’ had again produced some great football on the right wing turning the defence inside out on several occasions. Dylan began to push forward more and tried his luck from distance with his trade mark vicious shot, only inches wide, moments later he shot again from the same place this time finding the back of the net. Route one next, unusual for us, Lukes kick was controlled by Bolan, past a couple of defenders, picked his spot and 7-0. Joel now having a well earned rest gave Matthew chance to push up, straight away he caused problems with his strength which created a chance close in which he finished well.

Luke was having a quiet game today which was fortunate as he had suffered with a cold all week, was deaf in one ear, blurred vision in one eye and unable to sniff out an Eldwick attack due to a blocked nose.  Real Man flu!. however he was alert and assured when needed and his distribution was good again. The latter stages saw Max ‘Rio’ push up front in search of his first goal of the season. The boys all aware of his goal scoring prowess were trying hard to get the ball to him.  Again it wasnt to be for Max !  Bolan finished the scoring and Dan went close with a header and Tom hit the post.  Final score 9-0, another great team performance on a great pitch well supportted as usual. Our thanks and well played to Eldwick who kept battling, special praise to their keeper.  2 games to go, and we look forward with immense pride to the next game. Well done boys !!
