Guiseley Yellow v Keighley Shamrocks Crusaders (U9)

Guiseley Yellow v Keighley Shamrocks Crusaders (U9)

Last Sunday we played our second home game of the season against Keighley, having gone into the game second place in the league and looking to put pressure on league leaders Sutton.

With perfect playing conditions and a bumper crowd, the boys really put on a dominant show of passing, moving and lethal finishing. Some might say that today’s game was a bit of mis-match but to be fair to the boys they went about their business and didn’t give the Keighley lads any time during the match to impose themselves.

Credit to Keighley they never let their heads go down despite the eventual scoreline, and I’m sure they will be a tougher nut to crack later in the season. Sometimes however,it is hard to explain to the boys that on occasions the score is totally irrelevant, and it is the level of team performance that matters.

There were some spectacular goals from distance and cheeky back heeled goals, but for myself and Ian what was pleasing was that our passing game gets better every week, and the boys are really building a reputation for themselves.

Goals from Taylor (6) Charlie (5) Oliver (5) Joseph (3) Niall and Fin wrapped up another 3 points and this meant we have the opportunity to take on league leaders Sutton at home next week, with the incentive of going top, if we turn in the same level of performance as we have done in the last four games.

Once again another close one for MOM but Joseph pipped Taylor to the post this week with another impressive display on the right wing. A big well done to him.

Details of Sundays game will follow later in the week.
