Guiseley Yellow v Amaranth

Guiseley Yellow v Amaranth

A very windy day today, so windy that I had to take the respect barrier tape down, leaving only the poles, but after a quick word with the spectators about staying behind the barrier, it was game on.

Amaranth started brighter, and to be fair, they were better than us today.

We couldn’t really get going, and unfortunately we were second to the ball too often, and not making challenges.

Two silly mistakes cost us two goals, and not enough effort from some players today, dissapointing.

Amaranth scored 4 goals in total but could have had at least 7 if it Luke S wasn’t on great form.

As always, it wasn’t all bad, and please remember guys, IT’S NOT ABOUT THE SCORE, it’s about the performance.

Most of you were trying hard today, any that didn’t think they did, change that for the next game, for yourself and your team mates.

I know this team can perform great together,  Jamie, Arjan, Matthew, Luke S, Declan and  Josh, I noticed your effort today.

Bill made changes at half time, and it certainly made a difference, Declan switched to the left wing, picking up the ball at the half way line and running at the opposition, then cutting inside and scoring a lovely goal. Well done Declan….and Bill!

Guiseley had a couple of other chances but the game ended 1-4 to Amaranth, who played well and deserved the win.

So maybe just a bad day at the office, and hopefully we can play better next week, regardless of the score.

For me it’s about player development, keep listening to Bill and myself, we want you to improve, and you will.

Team: Luke S, Robert, Matthew, Arjan, Jake, Ethan, Declan, Fred, Tom, Jamie, Sam J, Alex, Josh, Finlay.

Goal: Declan

Man of the Match: Declan, you pulled your socks up, listened to what Bill wanted and produced, well done.

Many thanks to all the parents who helped with the nets and respect barriers.

Thank you to Finlay’s Dad who ran the line.

A huge thank you to Jonny who has been our referee, and does an excellent job, very fair and always in control.

A big thanks as always to Bill, came up with some brave ideas today, and they worked.

Next game is on 16/12/2012  Guiseley Yellow v Stanningley Black kick off 10.30am
