A very breezy day today which resulted in us taking down the respect barrier and leaving the respect poles standing alone. Luckily, we had no pitch invasion!
We had a few players out with injuries today but you would never have known it. The boys were very strong from the start.
Ethan was our temp goalkeeper for the first half and did a great job for us. Stephen opened the scoring for Guiseley on 6 minutes with a lovely strike which the Beeston keeper had no chance of saving.
Beeston responded well and replied with a goal. Finlay was next to score for Guiseley on 16 mins and again Beeston equalized.
Guiseley then settled down and played some great football, fighting for everything in the middle and not letting Beeston through.
Fred made it 3-2 to Guiseley on 27 mins and that was quickly followed by Stephen’s second on 28 minutes.
For the second half Arjan went in goal and kept a clean sheet!
Guiseley were really putting in the tackles today, I was very impressed with all the players work rate.
On 35 minutes Finlay got his second and on 46 minutes got his well deserved hat trick.
I was very impressed with all the players today, real team effort, battling for every ball, and very generous at times with the ball when I expected them to be selfish and shoot. I don’t think that the result of this game was ever in doubt, that doesn’t mean Beeston came to lose because they didn’t. They tried hard and never gave up, I just think that the way the team played today, as a team, I always thought they would come through it with a win.
A bit about the team:
Ethan, went in goal, no complaining through out the game, came out in the second half and was very generous with the ball. I wanted you to be more greedy today, you deserved it. Thanks.
Josh, The best game you have ever had! Got stuck in from the start, fearless in tacking and distribution was excellent, I was very happy and impressed with you today Josh.
Robert, nice to see you pushing up and dominating in midfield, and coming back when asked. Was hoping you got a goal for your efforts today.
Arjan, another player who went in goal with no complaining, and was very good! Always clever as an out field player too, coming forward, great tackling today and heading the ball as always.
Jake, always good at playing the simple ball, keeping it safe down the line, and you got your head on the ball today, great stuff!
Alex, great vision, finding spaces and placing the ball into areas for the team, good as usual.
Jamie, tireless effort again, set up 4 goals, you are a very unselfish player, a real team player.
Fred, superb today! Fighting for everything, and you won so much of the ball today, and you got a very well deserved goal. I’m very happy with the way you are developing as a player, keep it up.
Luke M, very gritty and skillful performance today, you were really putting in the tackles, and winning yourself free kicks, well done.
Tom, I have never seen you so aggressive on the football pitch, and I loved it! You were very fair, very strong and just too good for the opposition, a strong Gareth Bale!
Stephen, I knew from the start that you would bag yourself a goal (or two)! Very strong and determined, and played as part as a team, really fired up, great today.
Finlay, a well deserved hat trick, you chased everything down today, never gave up and never stopped. very pleased for you.
The team showed today how good they are as a team, fighting for everything, battling all the way and never giving up. I was really pleased with that performance, and well played to Beeston, they never gave up.
Big thank you to Neil and Andrew (Tom and Fred’s Dad’s) for putting up and taking down the nets. (well they are 6′ 15″). Thank you to Carl for running the line and to Julie for the hot choc! Any parents who helped and I’ve missed, sorry, and thanks!
Thank you to Bill for refereeing the game, he did a great job too!
Team: Ethan, Arjan, Josh, Robert, Jake, Fred, Alex, Jamie, Tom, Luke M, Stephen, Finlay.
Goals: Fred, Stephen (2), Finlay (3)
Man of the Match: Finlay, never gave up and got a well deserved hat trick, well done!
