Guiseley U15s v Ilkley – 9 December 2012

Guiseley U15s v Ilkley – 9 December 2012

The field conditions were very muddy and sticky not making it the easiest of games for the boys.  Both sides seemed quite evenly matched but Guiseley had a lucky run and a beautiful goal by Tom Smith put the boys in the lead giving them the boost they needed.

Both sides had a lot of possession and a great shot from Iestyn was denied by some good defending by Ilkley, however it wasn’t long before a cracking kick from Joe Gotts gave Guiseley a 2-0 lead.

Ilkley battled on and scored a well deserved goal bringing the score to 2-1.  Minutes before half time Shaun Brooks made a fantastic run from half way down the wing and did a superb finish in the top right corner of the goal to bring the score at half time to 3-1.

2nd half and the boys came out strong and confident and played some good football.  Ilkley unfortunately gave Guiseley a free kick that was taken by Tom Smith and bounced off the crossbar only to be headed back in by Oliver Hulme.  Ilkley again kept putting on the pressure and managed to pull back another goal bringing the game to 4-2 with 10 minutes to go.  Guiseley in true style dug in deep and a fantastic corner from Sam Beesting gave Harry Naylor in true style of Harry a header opportunity that did not disappoint and the ball went  into the back of the net bringing the final score to 5-2.

Great game by both teams thoroughly enjoyable game even if it was freezing cold.  Well done boys!!!
