Guiseley Greens 6 – Scholemoor 5 – Under 11’s

Fantastic Performance from Guiseley Greens this morning to put an end to Scholemoors’ unbeaten run. Every player really put in a solid performance and should be proud of their acheivement today.

Guiseley got off to a great start with Myles scoring virtually from the kick off into the top right of the goal. Scholemoor then pressed for an equaliser and Josh kept them at bay with some fantastic saves and clearances, but eventuallly they levelled. Guiseley pressed forward with some great passing and Myles popped up again to slot home a rebounded shot to give us a well earned aqnd hard fought half time lead.

The second half Scholemoor came out fighting and scored 2 early goals to put Guiseley under a great amount of pressure to make it 2 – 3. I am pleased to say that Guiseley really dug deap at this point and fought to bring themselves back into the game for which they deserve great credit. Guiseley were awarded a penalty for a handball by Scholemoor which Oliver slotted home nicely, and the whole team stsrted to believe they could win. Oliver then scored with a great shot from just inside their box to put us back in the lead at 4 – 3. After more attacking play from Guiseley we scored from another corner with Damien slotting home to score his first goal for Greens. Scholemoor attacked straight from the kick off and drove straight through the middle and scored a great goal to make it 5 – 4. With 10 minutes left to play the game went from end to end and became really exciting with both sides pressing for the win. Guiseley managed to score again from a corner, this time taken short by Myles who then passed to Theo who layed it back for Oliver to complete his hat-trick to give us a little breathing space, well done Oliver great captains performance. With a couple of minutes to play Scholemoor again scored to give the Spectators and Coaches a nailbitting finish. Guiseley held on to win 6 – 5, brilliant team effort, well done lads.

Man of the match – Josh, kept us in the game in the first half absolutely superb keeping.

Special mention to Max who also had a superb game at the back today, with some great late challenges and strength against a hard fighting opposition.

Well done lads, if we continue to work hard in training and play as a team on the pitch we will have a great season.
