Third home game of the season and again the Greens were playing under blue skies, as this was Remembrance Sunday we marked this by a minutes silence prior to the kick off.
Four of last years U6 academy teams lined up for a mega local derby, none of which had lost a game this season, and didn’t want to today.
What the crowd experienced was a fantastic display of football from all four teams, especially when you remember how young these kids are. By the end of both games there was only 1 goal separating each team, which is a credit to all involved.
The Yellows got off to a flying start and scored twice in quick succession, the Greens were definitely on the back foot.
The game was end to end stuff and the Greens came back at the Yellows with goals from Callum and Louis, all square at half time.
Second half and both teams were evenly matched with great defending by both teams, the Greens pressure paid off with another goal for Callum.
The yellows didn’t take this sitting down and came back at us, Mathew was being kept busy for once in the net with one memorable save getting a cheer from the crowd.
Full time and the Greens scraped through, well done to the Yellows for giving us a real test.. This game really was too close to call…
All the players involved in the game gave it everything, there were some tired looking faces out there by full time, this was as expected the hardest game we have faced in our run up to the Christmas break and league re-shuffle.
The true winners on the day were Guiseley Juniors as the quality and effort displayed by all four teams was a credit to the work put in by Kevin, Shaun, Wayne and Ian last season.
Congratulations to all involved! 🙂
Man of the match was Matthew for his mega save in the second half, well done Matthew.
