Bolton Woods Tournament Summary

Bolton Woods Tournament Summary

On a lovely afternoon the following was the team that played in the Bolton Woods pre-season tournament:-

Marcus

Freddie

Luke

Jack

Jacob

Nathan

Geno

Match 1 v Campion  Juniors              Won 1-0     Goalscorer:  Geno

A well deserved win by the boys with a slick move giving Geno the chance to score which he did comfortably. Further chances were missed which would have given a more decisive victory. Our defence of Marcus, Freddie and Luke looked comfortable while Jack, Jacob and Nathan  worked hard supporting Geno.

Match 2 v Thackley Thunder   Lost 1-0

A very close game that could have gone either way. Jack and Nathan both went close to giving us the lead but in the end a great run by the Thackley player resulted in the winning goal giving Marcus no chance.

Match 3 v Baildon Dynamos  Won 1-0  Goalscorer: Geno

A great performance by the whole team against the previously unbeaten Baildon side. Freddie, Luke and Marcus all defended well and held their positions with Marcus pulling off a smart diving stop to stop Baildon taking the lead. Jacob made numerous important tackles, breaking up attacks, while Jack and Nathan provided the width and accurate passes to aid Geno in attack. The winning goal came from an interception by Jacob who found Jack. Jack beat a man before playing a great through ball for Geno to run onto. Geno drew the keeper before firing into the corner of the net.

Match 4 v Horsforth  Lost 4-0

A disappointing final game saw us concede 3 goals in the last 5 minutes. Despite a positive start with Jacob, Jack and Nathan going close we went a goal down from a corner. We tried to battle back but once we went 2 goals down we started chasing the game finally conceding another 2 goals.

It was a very positive afternoon for the boys against strong opposition and a good work out for the forthcoming season
